D’Tigress have been drawn alongside host France, and five others for the final qualifying phase of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
The draw which took place on Monday in Mies, Switzerland at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball, placed Nigeria in Group .
The Nigeria senior women Basketball team which will be hosted in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France, one of the four designated qualifying venues from March 11 to 17, 2026.
D’Tigress will battle France, Germany, Korea, Colombia, and the Philippines in what promises to be one of the tournament’s most competitive groups.
The qualifying competition serves as the final stage on the Road to Berlin, where 16 nations will compete for the prestigious FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup trophy.
Germany’s Marie Gülich and former French captain Endy Miyem conducted the draw, with FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and representatives of participating federations in attendance.
Other host cities for the global qualifiers include Wuhan (China), San Juan (Puerto Rico), and Istanbul (Türkiye), each set to stage thrilling battles for World Cup qualification.
Four-time African champions D’Tigress will aim to make another strong statement on the global stage as they pursue qualification for Berlin 2026, where the world’s best teams will compete for basketball supremacy.

Lyon-Villeurbanne, France: Colombia, Philippines, Germany, Korea, France, and Nigeria.
San Juan, Puerto Rico: New Zealand, Puerto Rico, USA, Senegal, Italy, and Spain.
Istanbul, Türkiye: Hungary, Türkiye, Argentina, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
Three teams will qualify from each group alongside already qualified teams as continental champions and host.
The already qualified continental champions are Nigeria, Australia, USA, Belgium and Germany as the host.
