William Troost-Ekong, Super Eagles captain, says he will do the talking on the pitch in September when the Super Eagles will resume the quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
In a chat with Punchng, the Al-Kholood of Saudi Arabia centre back spoke about his 10 years with the Super Eagles his memorable moments with the team and the chances of making it to the World Cup.
“I am not going to talk about the World Cup, I am not going to do any talking, I will show you in September, we’ll see.” Said Ekong.
Ekong made his debut for the Super Eagles on June 13, 2015 and has been an important member of the team, rising to become the assistant captain and then captain, a privilege which he said is one of the proudest moments of his life.
“It’s honestly one of the proudest achievements of my life. Wearing the captain’s armband for Nigeria is an incredible honour, and it comes with great responsibility. Every time I lead the team out and hear the national anthem, it’s a moment I cherish deeply.” Said Ekong.
The Super Eagles, currently placed fourth in group C will hope to revive their World Cup dreams with a victory against Rwanda and South Africa in September.
