The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced Basira FC vs Mighty Jets FC as the new 2025/2026 season opener, replacing the earlier slated Lobi Stars vs City FC encounter.

The change comes just days before the new campaign officially begins this weekend.

According to the league body, the adjustment followed an inspection at the McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi, which failed to meet hosting standards earlier this week.

Basira FC of Lafia will now host Mighty Jets of Jos at the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with kickoff set for 3:00 PM.

The encounter, a Conference C showdown, promises a thrilling North Central rivalry as both clubs look to start their campaigns on a winning note. Fans and stakeholders have been urged to adjust to the revised schedule.

NNL confirmed that this fixture will officially flag off the 2025/2026 season, while other Matchday One games across the country will commence on November 16.

A total of 382 matches are scheduled for the season.

Additionally, the league announced that the victorious team in the opening fixture will receive the betPawa Locker Room Bonus of ₦56,000 — an incentive aimed at boosting player motivation and rewarding performance right from the kickoff weekend.
