Joan Laporte, Barcelona President, says it is unrealistic to believe that Messi will make a return to Catalan side as a player.

Laporte said this due to speculations that the Argentine forward will be back to Barcelona. Messi posted a picture of himself back at the iconic Camp Nou which has been expanded and refurbished, resulting to over 23 million reactions within 24 hours. But Laporte believes that a return is not possible.

“For me to make speculation that is unrealistic, nor do I think is fair, I believe that is not appropriate.

“It would be right that he has the best tribute in the world, and it would be wonderful to have it here, in front of 105,000 fans,” he said.

The eight-time Ballon d’or winner left the Catalans in 2021 for PSG before going to America to play for Inter Miami in 2023 and signed a contract renewal till 2028.
