43 countries confirm participation in African U18/U20 Championships

A total of 43 countries with 937 athletes representing them have confirmed participation in the 3rd African U18/U20 Athletics Championships to be held in Abeokuta.

According to a press release by the National Sports Commission (NSC), the organizers have been working round the clock to ensure a world-class experience.

Preparations for the championship began weeks ago with the NSC constituting different committees to oversee arrangements and logistics which include transportation and accommodation.

Among the countries that have confirmed their participation are South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Algeria, Cameroon, Morocco, Senegal, Uganda, and hosts Nigeria.

Nigeria will present a total of 110 athletes and 22 officials while South Africa will have the second largest delegation with 82 athletes and 18 officials billed to participate in the African U18/U20 Championships.

Fresh from successfully hosting the National Sports Festival “Gateway Games”, Ogun State will be opened to an influx of international athletes for the championship which is scheduled from July 16 to 20, 2025.
