Amaju Pinnick has been appointed as special adviser to Patrice Motsepe, CAF president.
In a press conference on Saturday, Motsepe announced the appointment of the former president of theNigeria Football Federation (NFF) which has been ratified by the CAF executive committee.
In his capacity as Motsepe’s SA, the former FIFA Council member will also attend CAF’s executive meetings.
Pinnick failed to retain his FIFA Council seat in a keenly contested election in Cairo. Amaju lost by a single vote to Ahmed Yahya of Mauritania and Souleman Hassan Waberi of Djibouti.
Speaking at the press conference, Motsepe spoke highly of Amaju and said this appointment was due to his “incredible contributions to football’ in Nigeria and the continent.
With this appointment, the former Delta State Football Association Chairman returns to active football administration and to CAF, where he knows the terrain having worked in various capacities with the body.
