Abia state to host 2025 NWFL Championship

The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has announced Abia State as host of the NWFL Championship, from September 11-21, 2025.

 

The Championship is the second tier of the women’s football league in Nigeria. The Championship is also part of the NWFL league and its conclusion brings the 2024/2025 NWFL calender to a close.

 

17 clubs have registered for this year’s edition and they will be drawn into four groups ahead of the kick-off and only the group leaders will qualify for the NWFL Premiership.

 

Participating teams are expected to arrive in Abia State on September 11, with the official draws and pre-match meetings scheduled for the following day.

 

Matchday one will commence on September 13 and the final matchday will be on September 21. There will be rest days provided between matchdays for proper recovery for the players. The participating teams are:

3. Royal Queens FC

4. Pelican Stars FC

5. Ghetto Tigers FC

6. Wazbak Int’l FC

7. Castmog Ladies FC

8. Chosen Generation Angels FC

9. Imo Striker Queens FC

 

 

10. Unification FC

11. Delta Babes FC

12. Ahudiyannem Queens FC

13. First Mahi Babes FC

14. Fortress Ladies FC

15. Kwara Ladies FC

16. Moje Queens FC

17. Gallant Queens FC

 

 

All the matches will be played at the Abiriba Stadium and Umuahia Township Stadium, both in Abia State.
