Moses Aduku, coach of the Falconets has expressed confidence in his team ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in September.

The team have been in Abuja preparing for the encounter. The Falconets were given a bye from the first round of qualifiers into the second round. Aduku said he faced challenges with fitness of the players due to the long NWFL break.

“So far, so good, the players are responding to training.

“The first week was tough because they had been off for about two months, but with conditioning and tactical drills, the team has improved,” said Aduku

Aduku said he and his team have watched clips of Rwanda first round games and have an idea of how they play.

“Rwanda is a strong side with pace and good teamwork, but we have studied their matches, and we are working on strategies to neutralize their threats. We still have two more weeks to prepare, and I believe the girls will be ready,” he concluded.

The first leg of the encounter will be played in Kigali on September 21, 2025 while the second leg will be played at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on September 27, 2025.

The winner of the tie will advance to the next round to face the winner between Algeria and Senegal in the final round, and the winner qualifies to the world cup in Poland.

The Falconets have qualified for all editions of the World Cup and have played in the final twice, in 2010 and 2014.
