AFCON 2025: Osimhen joins Super Eagles as full squad head to Fez

Victor Osimhen has linked up with the Super Eagles squad as Nigeria departed Cairo for Fez, Morocco, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Galatasaray forward was the last of the invited players to arrive in camp, landing in the Egyptian capital on Wednesday, shortly before the team’s scheduled departure to Fez where Nigeria will play all their Group C matches.

The Super Eagles had camped in Cairo from Saturday to fine-tune preparations for the tournament. As part of their build-up, they played a friendly against hosts Egypt but fell 2–1 to the Pharaohs.

Nigeria will begin their AFCON 2025 campaign against Tanzania on December 23, two days after the competition gets underway. The Super Eagles will also face Tunisia and Uganda in Group C.

Nigeria’s squad for the tournament includes goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie, with experienced outfield players such as Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon, as the three-time African champions set their sights on lifting the continental crown in Morocco.

The competition will kick off this weekend as the host country Morocco will begin their campaign against Comoros in the opening match, immediately after the opening ceremony.
