Emmanuel Amuneke, technical adviser of Heartland FC, says the team’s goal is to return to the NPFL next season.
Amuneke spoke to the club’s media after the draws for the 2025/2026 season of the Nigeria National League (NNL) were done in Kaduna on Tuesday. The former Super Eagles winger noted that the club is restructuring in order to stage a comeback to the Premier League.
“We have been expecting the draw and with what we have done since June when the team resumed rebuilding, we are ready to compete.
“Some of the players we used last season have left and we have brought in new players. Our objective is to use this new crop, along with the retained ones to achieve our goal of returning to the NPFL.
“It is a welcome development and we respect all the teams in our group because they deserve to be there.
“The new players are adapting very well, and I am happy with their commitment. I can categorically say we are much better than last season because we’ve had more time to prepare and assess the team,” Amuneke said.
The former CAF Champions League finalists find themselves in Conference A where they will meet Sunshine Stars, Edel FC, Abia Comets and six other clubs.
The Naze Millionaires will begin their campaign against Crown FC of Ogbomosho on November 8, 2025 in Ogbomosho.
