The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Tuesday honoured Daniel Ogunmodede, head coach of Remo Stars and Anas Yusuf, Nasarawa United’s striker for their contributions in the 2024/2025 season.
In a modest ceremony held in Abuja, the duo received awards for their outstanding performance last season.
Daniel Ogunmodede led Remo Stars to win their first NPFL title with 71 points. Remo Stars became the first privately-owned club from the South West region to win the league since 2000.
Nasarawa United’s Anas Yusuf scored 18 goals last season and was the league’s top scorer. Speaking after receiving his award, Yusuf said the award motivates him to do more.
“I’m happy to be recognized by the NPFL. This award motivates me to push harder, and I hope to surpass my goal-scoring record from last season and hopefully score more than 20 goals,” he said.
Both award recipients went home with cash prizes of ₦2m each. Anas Yusuf was present for the awards but Daniel Ogunmodede was represented by Tony Bulus, as the Remo Stars coach is in camp with the Super Eagles in Uyo for the upcoming double-header World Cup qualifiers.
