AYG: Nigeria gets Day 3 victory in Swimming, Badminton

Team Nigeria had a promising state in day three of the Africa Youth Games in Luanda with impressive performances from its athletes. 

In swimming, Aidan Dumuje-Abili clocked 55.90 in the 100m freestyle to finish second in his heat. This strong finish secured him a place in the event’s final.

 

In beach volleyball, team Nigeria claimed its second consecutive victory, defeating Namibia 2-0 to keep their campaign on track.

 

Nigeria had a commanding presence on Day 2 of the events with a silver medal in badminton. The team fought hard against Algeria in the final but lost 2-1 (45-41, 45-43, 45-43).

 

In the table tennis event, the girls singles team beat Kenya 3-0 in the round of 16 while the boys beat Angola 3-0. The Nigerian boys also outclassed Algeria 4-1 in the best of seven series.
