Brentford: Mbeumo will be sold when “right deal” arrives

Phil Giles Brentford's director of football

Phil Giles, the Brentford director of football says forward, Bryan Mbeumo would only be sold when the “right deal” arrives.

Mbeumo has been a key target for Manchester United who have seen two of their offers rejected by Brentford.

Mbeumo has told the Brentford hierarchy he wants to leave but the club wants to keep him till they get an offer in excess of the £62.5m which the Red Devils offered, reports the BBC.

“Any club will tell you that. “If it’s not right deal, why would we do it? He is certainly one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There’s no harm in keeping your best players,” said Giles

Giles said the club is not surprised by the interest from big clubs for the Cameroon international but says it is still possible he might not move this summer.

“He had a fantastic season. “We expected big interest in him, we have had big interest in him. He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career. He is well within his rights to do that.” Giles added.

“It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree he is going to stay,” he said.

Manchester United are in search of a top striker next season as pressure mounts on Ruben Amorim to deliver. The Portuguese has come under criticism for failing to win Europa League and barely surviving in the league last season.
