Erik Ten Hag has been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen after just two league games in charge this season.
The German club announced on Monday that they have parted ways with the former Manchester United boss. Ten Hag’s side threw away a two-goal lead against Werder Bremen at home on Saturday to draw 3-3 with the visitors one man down.
Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen Managing Director of Sport said it was not an easy decision to let Ten Hag go but it had to be done.
“This decision was not an easy one for us. Nobody wanted to take this step. However, the past few weeks have shown that building a new and successful team with this setup is not feasible.
“We firmly believe in the quality of our team and will now do everything we can to take the next steps in our development with a new setup,” he said.
Leverkusen sit uncomfortably at 12th position on the log after two games. This is the second time he is sacked from a job in 11 months, after being let go by Manchester United in October 2024
