Malian club, Djoliba Athletic Club have arrived in Uyo for their CAF Confederation Cup match with Abia Warriors.
The 29-man contingent from Mali landed at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, at 12:38pm on Friday and were warmly received by their hosts before moving to settle in their hotel.
The Malian club arrived with 20 players and 9 officials for the game which will be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday at 4pm.
The tie on Sunday is the first leg of the preliminary tie and the first ever encounter between both sides, as that will be Abia Warriors’ first ever game on the continent.
Abia Warriors have witnessed change in fortunes in the past two seasons, playing in their first ever President Federation Cup final and also qualifying for the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Djoliba have won 24 league titles, making them the most successful Malian club. Their highest achievement on the continent was playing in the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup final.
