Liverpool roared back to form on Wednesday night as Hugo Ekitike inspired a 5–1 comeback victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League.
The Reds, who began the season with seven straight wins, had stumbled through four consecutive defeats, including a painful loss to Manchester United on Sunday.
Their early wobble in Germany hinted at another setback when former Leeds defender Rasmus Kristensen fired Frankfurt into an early lead.
However, Liverpool’s response was ruthless. Ekitike equalised ten minutes before halftime, finishing coolly from Andy Robertson’s pinpoint pass.
Moments later, Virgil van Dijk powered home a header from a corner, and Ibrahima Konaté extended the lead with another headed effort just before the break.
Cody Gakpo made it 4–1 after halftime, converting Florian Wirtz’s low cross, before Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the emphatic victory with a stunning long-range strike—again assisted by Wirtz.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea delivered a thrilling 5–1 win over Ajax, with three teenage stars finding the net as Enzo Maresca’s side extended their winning streak to four matches.
Tottenham Hotspur maintained their unbeaten European run after goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario produced crucial saves to earn a goalless draw away to Monaco.
Elsewhere, Harry Kane continued his prolific form, scoring again in Bayern Munich’s 4–0 demolition of Club Brugge, while Jude Bellingham’s decisive strike gave Real Madrid a narrow 1–0 triumph over Juventus at the Bernabéu.
