Chelsea Football Club have been charged with 74 alleged breaches of the rules related to payments to agents between 2009 and 2022.

According to a report by the BBC, the charges focused on events which happened between 2010 and 2016.

The alleged rule breaches concern agents, intermediary and third-party investments in players. The club in a statement said that they reported the breaches themselves to the FA but they have until 19 September to respond to the charges.

The club could be sanctioned through a transfer embargo, a fine, points deduction or any other way deemed fit by the FA.

Following the club’s sale in 2022, the new owners reported breaches to the FA and the Chelsea were fined £8.6m by UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play rules as a result of submitting incomplete financial information between 2012 and 2019.

Transfers involving Samuel Eto’o and Willian are also part of a Premier League investigation into financial rule breaches by the club.
