Deji Ayeni, former Akwa United and Crown FC coach, was spotted at Enyimba’s training on Friday.Â
There have been reports that he has joined the People’s Elephants as Head Coach but the club has yet to issue a public statement.
On Friday, Lawrence Ukaegbu and Kingjoe Akuma took charge of training. After the session, the players were called together and addressed by Deji Ayeni who was flanked by Uche Okechukwu; former Super Eagles defender, also member of the Enyimba board and Obinna Nwaneri, a former defender at the club.
After a poor run of form, Stanley Eguma was told to step aside alongside his assistants. Lawrence Ukaegbu stepped in as interim coach and led the team to Ilorin where they lost 3-2 to Katsina United on Monday.
Next for the nine-time NPFL champions is an Oriental Derby against Rangers International of Enugu on Sunday in Aba. It is left to be seen who will take charge of the game as Ayeni has not been unveiled by the club.
