Mohammed AbdulRahman, head coach of Nigeria’s D’Tigers says he is proud of how his team played even though they lost to Senegal.

AbdulRahman spoke after the team lost 91-75 to Senegal in the quarterfinals of the Afrobasket Championship in Luanda, Angola on Wednesday.

“On a night we were supposed to bring out our A-game, we fell short. I’m not taking anything away from Senegal, they deserved the win,” AbdulRahman said.

“I am proud of how we played. We have an identity now, and we will continue to build on it,” he concluded.

The D’Tigers raced to an early lead but dropped momentum, allowing their opponents back into the game. Nigeria’s efforts to bounce back were futile as the Senegalese grew in strength and dominated till the end of the game.

The team had a perfect run in the group stages with victory over Tunisia, Madagascar and Cameroon. The D’Tigers will now wait for the next Afrobasket tournament to win their second title
