Nigeria’s Basketball national team, D’Tigers have booked their place in the quarterfinal of the 2025 FIBA Afrobasket after an 87-66 victory over defending champions, Tunisia on Friday.
The boys rushed to an early 10-0 lead, making their intent known early in the game. Nigeria led 48-33 at halftime and made it 68-47 by the end of the third quarter.
In the crucial fourth quarter, they kept the pressure on and sealed their win with a 21-point margin, qualifying to the next round having won two games in a group of four.
Josh Okogie was the star of the afternoon as he turned in 31 points and leading the charge for the 2015 champions who are in search of a second title.
The team will play their final game against Cameroon. Tunisia will need a big win against Madagascar whom the D’Tigers beat in the first group game, to keep their hopes alive as anything short of victory would see the defending champions crash out of the tournament.
