D’Tigers depart to Angola for Afrobasket Championship

The D’Tigers have departed the country for Angola, head of the 31st edition of the FIBA Afrobasket Championship.

The 2025 Afrobasketball championship  is scheduled to be held from August 12-24, 2025.

The team had been in closed camping in Abuja under the watchful eyes of the coaches.

 

The team which traveled includes: Josh Okogie, Caleb Agada, Ike Nwamu, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Talib Zanna, Stan Okoye, Mike Nuga, Devine Eke, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon, Emmanuel Omogbo, Fola Fayemi, Peter Olisemeka, Kareem Joseph, and late addition Mohammed Abdulsalam.

 

The team will compete in Group B alongside Tunisia, Cameroon and Madagascar.

 

The 2015 Afrobasket champions will hope to win the trophy again, especially after the D’Tigress lifted the women’s Afrobasket title on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
