The D’Tigress have been ranked the eighth best women’s basketball team in the world according to the latest ranking from FIBA.
In the rankings released on Thursday by Nike, the African champions sit on the 8th spot with 640.1 points. This is coming after they won their 7th Afrobasket title and also winning five times in a row.
USA leads the chart with 880.9 points followed by Australia with 719.6 points and France with 719.2 points as the big basketball nations kept a tight grip on the top three with China and Belgium following closely.
Belgium made a giant leap into the top five following their EuroBasket Women victory while Great Britain dropped out of the top 20 to 22.
South Sudan made the biggest climb, jumping 31 spots to 55 after a period of good games and development. D’Tigress will hope to keep their place in the rankings as they prepare for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Women’s World Cup.
