Nigerian forward Echeta Deputy delivered a man of the match performance, scoring once and providing an assist as Zakho cruised to a commanding 4–0 victory over Newroz in their Iraq Stars League Round 4 clash on Saturday night.

The encounter at the Zakho International Stadium began in explosive fashion, with Echeta opening the scoring inside three minutes

Echeta started the swift attacking move and ended it with the ball at the back of the net as Zakho pierced through the visitors’ defence.

His early strike set the tone for a dominant display from the home side, who looked determined to record their second win of the campaign.

Zakho doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Sarmad Karim finished off a well-worked move orchestrated by Echeta.

The hosts remained in control, dictating the tempo and forcing their opponents to defend deep.

Just before halftime, Kristijan Tojcic made it 3–0, finishing clinically after another fluid team buildup that epitomized Zakho’s attacking confidence.

The second half continued in similar fashion.

Barely a minute after the restart, Ahmed Attwan added a fourth goal to put the result beyond doubt.

Despite Newroz’s efforts to find a consolation, Zakho’s defence held firm to secure a clean sheet and complete a dominant performance on both ends of the pitch.

Echeta Deputy’s display was the highlight of the evening — a blend of pace, creativity, and precision that left Newroz chasing shadows.

His goal and assist underline his growing influence in Zakho’s attack and his importance to their early-season form.

The emphatic win — Zakho’s second in four matches lifts them to eighth on the Iraq Stars League table.

It’s a strong statement of intent to their rivals as the 2025/26 campaign gathers pace.
