William Troost-Ekong, Super Eagles captain, has expressed appreciation to his teammates saying he is proud of them and what they have achieved so far.
The Super Eagles qualified for the playoffs with the 4-0 spanking of Benin Republic, a game which has been described as one of the best in recent times from the team.
Ekong said he is “proud of this team. I’m so proud to be a Super Eagle, I’m so proud to be part of this team, part of this family,” Ekong said.
“There’s so much to be said about this team, I know it comes from a place of love. Everyone loves the Super Eagles, everyone wants Nigeria to do well.
“It’s time that we continue to support this team, it’s easy to celebrate the good moments but it has really been tough these last months.
“We have come out now to achieve something which was said to be impossible many times and we kept believing. We have to love the players for their personalities and for expressing themselves, they try to do the same on the pitch.
“I’m very proud of this team, we have exceptional players, we have a special generation and we have a big work still to do in Morocco next month for playoff.
“We will continue taking it game by game and we should be proud of everyone and the contribution everyone has made.”
The Eagles knocked out Burkina Faso with their four goals scored against Benin Republic to make it to the playoffs which will be played in November where Nigeria will meet Gabon.
