Emma Osigwe, Kun Khalifat’s technical adviser, says his team will correct their mistakes and improve following their first ever win in the NPFL.
The Imo state side, who are temporarily playing in Aba won their first game of the season against Elkanemi Warriors in the match day 4 of the 2025/26 Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.
Ebuka Nwokorie opened scoring for the ‘Pride of Imo’ before the visitors equalized through Kun Khalifat’s former player, Ebuka Okoro. Nwokorie scored his second of the evening before substitute, Prince Onuoha scored the third for the home side.
Emma Osigwe acknowledged their mistakes which include missing chances and said the team will work on them.
“But one thing is clear. it’s a new team that got promotion to the NPFL and they are just coming up, there must be mistakes. The more we go, the more we correct the mistakes and so far, we can see that we’ve lost two matches and we drew one,” Osigwe said.
“This one around is better than the other matches that we’ve played, we even lost a lot of scoring chances but I think the more we climb, the more the players improve their performances.
“It’s a youth team, you don’t expect them to start beating everybody that has been in the Premier League for many years. So it is something that has to be taken step by step so that we can achieve [our goals]. We lack a lot of experience and we need to work on and correct our mistakes.
“I assure that in the coming days or weeks, there will be some improvements both in the goalkeeping department and the outfield players.”
Kun Khalifat have four points from 4 games. The team have won one game, drawn once and lost twice. Next for them is a trip to the Lekan Salami Stadium this weekend to face Shooting Stars.
