Ex Benin international Razak Omotoyossi passes on

Nigeria-born former Benin Republic international, Razak Omotoyossi has passed on aged 39.

The news of his death came as a rude shock to the football community as it filtered in on Tuesday morning.

Omotoyossi was born in Lagos and began his career with Sunshine Stars before moving to Benin Republic, where he played for Avrankou Omnispor and Jeunesse Athletique du Cotonou.

He has played in Sweden for Helsingborg where he was the league’s top scorer and had stints in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr and Metz in France.

Razak Omotoyossi then returned to Sweden and played for GAIS and Syrianska before playing in Egypt for Zamalek, Kahramanmarasspo,  Kenitra Athletic Club and Olympic Club de Safi.

He had 55 caps with Benin Republic, scoring 21 goals. He made his debut for the Les Ecuriels in a 4-1 defeat to Libya on 3rd September 2004 and retired in 2019.
