Nigeria’s U20 women’s football team, the Falconets will face Rwanda in September in the second round of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Rwanda have chosen the venue and date for the first leg of the tie. The match will be played on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the Kigali Regional Stadium.
The two-time world cup finalists were drawn bye to the second round due to their pedigree.
Christopher Danjuma’s girls crashed out in the round of 16 at the last world cup and will hope to do better this time round but must first qualify for the tournament.
To get to this round, Rwanda beat Zimbabwe 2-1 on aggregate. Andre Cassa Mbungo’s girls did the job away from home, beating their hosts 2-1 before being held to a goalless draw in the return leg played at the Kigali Pele Stadium.
The Falconets have qualified for all editions of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup and played in the final twice, in 2010 and 2014. The 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup will take place in Poland from 5-27 September.
