Turkish club, Fenerbahçe have parted ways with Jose Mourinho, according to a statement by the club on Friday.

Mourinho leaves the club just two days after failing to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League. The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss joined the club in 2024.

“We have parted ways with Jose Mourinho, who served as head coach of our professional A team since the 2024-2025 season. We thank him for his efforts for our team and wish him success in his future career,” a statement from the club said.

Fenerbahçe had big expectations from Mourinho but the Portuguese has now failed to win a trophy. He was knocked out of the Turkish Super Cup in the quarterfinal and lost to Rangers in the Europa League round of 16.

He has also been involved in some controversies, including his outburst about Turkish referees. Before Fenerbahçe’s loss to Benfica in the Champions League playoffs, Vice President, Hamdi Akin said his side would easily beat Benfica. However, when asked about Hamdi’s comments, Mourinho claimed he did not know who Hamdi was.
