FIFA picks Allaou for Lesotho, Nigeria clash in Polokwane

Chadian official, Alhadi Allaou Mahamat has been selected by FIFA as the referee for next week’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Crocodiles of Lesotho. 

 

The match is billed for the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa on Friday, 10th August 2025. The game was moved away from the Free State Stadium after protest by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

 

Allaou was in charge of Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo on 6th September 2025. He will be assisted by his compatriots Bogola Issa (Assistant 1), Moussa Hafiz (assistant 2) and Abdelkerim Ousmane (fourth official).

 

Kenyan official, Alice Damaris Kimani has been appointed as the referee assessor while William Makinati Shongwe from Eswatini will be the commissioner.

 

The Super Eagles need victory in the game to stand a chance of making it to the World Cup. The match will kick off at 6pm South Africa time (5pm Nigeria time).
