The group stage of the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025™ came to a thrilling end on Tuesday after 72 matches as Uganda, Mali, Burkina Faso and several other nations confirmed their places in the first ever Round of 32.
In Group I, Burkina Faso sealed qualification with a 2–0 victory over Tajikistan, thanks to goals from Cherif Barro and Eric Ouattara.
The United States topped the group after Mathis Albert’s late strike secured a 1–0 win over Czechia, who also advanced as one of the best third-placed teams.
Group J saw Uzbekistan dominate Panama with a commanding 6–1 win, while the Republic of Ireland and Paraguay played out a goalless draw that ensured both sides advanced to the knockout stage.
Uganda made history in Group K, recording their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory with a 1–0 triumph over France courtesy of James Bogere’s well-taken goal.
Despite the defeat, France still finished as group winners. Canada squeezed through on goal difference despite a 2–1 loss to Chile—a rare scenario that saw all four teams in the group finish level on points.
In Group L, Mali continued their strong form by defeating Saudi Arabia 2–0 to secure qualification, while Austria maintained a perfect record with a 4–1 win over New Zealand.
The confirmed Round of 32 fixtures promise exciting clashes, including USA vs. Morocco, Senegal vs. Uganda, Germany vs. Burkina Faso, and Zambia vs. Mali. Matches will take place across Friday, 14 November, and Saturday, 15 November, in Doha.
