Nigeria’s U-20 national football team, the Flying Eagles, will begin a two week camping in Chile on Tuesday ahead of the FIFA U20 World Cup.
According to a SportResonance insider, the Nigerian team will depart Abuja for Chile on Sunday night as preparations for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup continue.
The two-week training camp in Chile, will focus on acclimatization, tactical drills, and team bonding ahead of the tournament.
It was gathered that there will be friendly matches against local Chilean teams to help the Flying Eagles adjust to the weather, altitude, and playing conditions.
The Flying Eagles will play their opening FIFA U-20 World Cup match against Norway on Monday, September 29, in Group D competition.
Nigeria will then face Saudi Arabia before concluding their group stage campaign against Colombia in a decisive clash expected to determine qualification.
Coach Zubair Aliyu has emphasized strong discipline, fast transitions, and sharp finishing as key elements that could define Nigeria’s campaign in Chile.
The squad currently training in Abuja includes top talents from the Nigeria academies, amateur leagues, NPFL and promising players from European clubs.
Technical officials confirmed that the camp will also provide time for injury assessments, physical conditioning, and tactical fine-tuning before the first group game.
Nigeria has previously reached the FIFA U-20 World Cup final twice but has never lifted the trophy despite producing many global football stars.
Aliyu believes the current group possesses quality, resilience, and creativity to mount a serious challenge for Nigeria’s first-ever FIFA U-20 title.
