Aliyu Zubair, Flying Eagles coach, has declared his team’s readiness to face Norway in their opening fixture of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

Zubair spoke ahead of the clash with the Norwegians on Monday night.

“We are very much prepared. In every competition, the first match is very important because if you can get the first match right, it will give you more focus and the confidence level of the boys will rise,” Zubair said.

“We are going to approach the game with all seriousness to make sure that we come out victorious in the first match.”

The team played two friendly games against Australia and Chile in preparation for the tournament. The former El-kanemi Warriors coach believes that his team is adequately prepared and also have information about their opponents which the technical crew and the players will analyze.

“We know our opponents. We are in a digital world. We’ve seen a lot of their matches. We are trying to analyze it,” he added.

“We’ve done that within the technical crew level and we’re trying to fix one or two things that we observed in training so that the players will be conversant with what they’re likely to meet during the match.”

He expressed confidence that the players know what is at stake but will not allow the expectations to be a pressure on them but a motivation to put smiles on the faces of Nigeria.
