The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy (FMACTCE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Sports Commission (NSC) to build a world-class Sports and Cultural Innovation Hub within the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The agreement, signed on Thursday, aims to harness the creative, cultural, and sporting sectors to drive national development, create jobs, empower youth, and boost Nigeria’s global visibility.

The proposed hub will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a National Museum of Arts and Culture, Entertainment Arena and Performance Centre, Youth Creative and Entrepreneurship Centre, Eco-Villas and Eco-Lodges, Family Recreational Park, Cultural Lounges and Marketplaces, Mounted Games Arena, and a Sports Heritage Pavilion.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, described the partnership as a landmark step toward diversifying opportunities for young Nigerians.

She emphasized that the collaboration would not only strengthen cultural identity but also stimulate economic growth and reduce insecurity.

“The creative industry is thriving, and Nigeria’s cultural assets are globally recognized. Partnering with the sports sector through this MoU will empower the youth, build capacity, and create jobs.”

“If replicated nationwide, it will mark a new dawn for our economy and tourism,” she said.

Chairman of the NSC, Mallam Shehu Dikko, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to sports economy reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He noted that the project would transform the Abuja stadium into a 24-hour sports and cultural city that integrates heritage, tourism, and innovation.

The project will operate under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with institutional support from FMACTCE and NSC.

Both parties pledged to work closely to deliver the hub as a catalyst for creativity, sports excellence, and economic transformation.
