Godwin Enakhena, Chairman of the Main Organising Committee of the Dr & Dr (Mrs.) DK Olukoya Women’s Basketball Competition has stated that the essence of this year’s edition is to keep the youths engaged, while providing a sense of purpose and accomplishment for the Girl-child.

Speaking exclusively to sportresonance.com, Enakhena said the expectation is for participants to approach the competition with a balance of confidence, and to equally use the platform as preparatory ground towards the start of every new NBBF women’s basketball league season in Nigeria.

“The target is simply to get the Girl-child busy and to use her God given talent profitably, while our expectation is that the event provides a platform for the women teams in Nigeria to fine tune preparations for the commencement of every new NBBF Women Basketball League season.”

Beyond the consistency the previous four editions has gained, Enakhena also expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to Dr.Olukoya for his contributions to the growth and development of sports in Nigeria, seeing that MFM has produced a generation of talents where national teams pick players from for international competitions.

‎”For us at MFM, the event has produced generation next of basketball players because some academies participate in it. It also helps to showcase the best of talents from where national teams pick players for international competitions. We’re glad that we have the support and recognition of the NBBF who appreciate what Dr Olukoya is doing for sports development in Nigeria.”

“So the target is to keep the Girl-child engage in profitable venture and be rewarded handsomely while doing so.” Enakhena told Sports Resonance.
