Hugo Broos, head coach of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa says if his team wins, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be under serious pressure.
Broos spoke ahead of the game with Lesotho which will go a long way in deciding who makes it through to the World Cup in 2026. A confident Bruce passed the pressure to the Eagles.
“If we win on Friday, Nigeria will be under serious pressure, because they have to win against Rwanda,” Broos said.
“Rwanda doesn’t have to loose or may not loose to keep their second place, so it should be an ideal position for us.
“But first of all we have to win, even with everything that happened last week am confident, and I know the qualities of the players and we’re still strong enough to beat Lesotho, but again, we have to be focused and concentrated to reach our best level.”
Broos knows that victory for Bafana Bafana would mean well for his side, after CAF gave approval for Lesotho to play in South Africa.
“We need to fight for every second and every square meter on the pitch to win that game, and it should be a very good situation for us if we could win on Friday,” he concluded.
The Super Eagles will face the Amavubi of Rwanda in a crucial game on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo and will hope for victory to pile pressure on South Africa who sit top of the group with 13 points, while Nigeria has 7 points before the game on Saturday.
