Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has confirmed that every internal issue within the national team has been peacefully resolved, assuring Nigerians that total focus now rests on their decisive World Cup playoff clash against Gabon.

The defender’s statement, concise yet powerful, rekindled national optimism and reaffirmed the team’s unity ahead of Thursday’s showdown in Rabat.

Troost-Ekong shared the reassuring message on his verified X (Twitter) handle on Wednesday afternoon, writing:

“Issue RESOLVED. We are together and as before, focussed on the games ahead! 🇳🇬 @NGSuperEagles.”

Troost Ekong post immediately lifted spirits among millions of Nigerian supporters who had grown anxious following reports of a bonus and allowance dispute between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Super Eagles players.

The issue, which threatened to derail preparations for the crucial playoff, has now been fully settled.

Reliable sources confirmed that a closed-door meeting involving senior players, team officials, and NFF representatives took place earlier on Wednesday.

The discussions, described as frank and constructive, ended with an agreement that restored calm and reinforced collective commitment within the camp ahead of the task ahead.

On Tuesday, the Super Eagles had  boycotted training over unpaid bonuses and backlogged allowances.

However, with the matter now settled, the team has returned to full training, signaling renewed energy and purpose.

The Troost-Ekong declaration has thus set the tone for unity and determination as the Eagles seek victory against Gabon.

The outcome of Thursday’s game will determine who progresses to the CAF World Cup playoff final, scheduled for Sunday.

Having missed the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Super Eagles are determined to make amends by qualifying for the 2026 edition.
