”I have played a couple of games against African opponents and it’s always very difficult, they’re always very tough, so am expecting this WAFCON to be tough or even tougher, because every team always wants to beat us to be the best in Africa,” Echegini told Sport Resonance.
Speaking further, the Paris Saint-Germain creative midfielder is optimistic of their chances of becoming champions on the continent, stressing they don’t want an easy ride to become champions of Africa.
“We don’t want an easy ride to become champions, the more difficult the game is, the better for us in general, so, I’d believe it’s going to be a bit tougher, I don’t think it will be easy but I have 100% faith and full confidence that we’ll become champions.”
Nigeria will get her campaign underway on July 6th against Tunisia, then face Botswana and Algeria in group B of this year’s WAFCON tournament in Morocco.
