Kim Lars Bjorkegren, Black Queens of Ghana’s head coach, says the friendly game against the Super Falcons of Nigeria will be a tough game.
Speaking to GFA Communications ahead of the encounter, the coach said he respects Malawi and Benin, teams which his side beat in friendlies but that Nigeria would give his side a stern test.
“With full respect to Malawi and Benin, Nigeria is one step up. One of the best teams in Africa with good players in almost every position. The game against Nigeria is going to be a very, very tough game,” Bjorkegren said.
“But that’s also what we need now because we have shown that our lowest level is high enough. We know that we can score goals, and we have built a good defence, so it’s going to be fun to match up against one of the best teams.”
It is the final friendly game for both teams as they prepare for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Justin Madugu and his technical crew will assess the girls against another strong opposition after the game with Portugal in Lisbon which ended in a goalless draw.
The Black Queens have played two friendly matches against Malawi and Benin, winning both games but the friendly game against the Falcons will be a true test of their strength and resurgence under Lars Bjorkegren.
The match will be played on Sunday June 29, 2025 in Morocco.
