President Bola Tinubu has rewarded the D’Tigress for winning their 7th Afrobasket title on Sunday.
The President was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima in a reception organized at the Presidential Villa on Monday. Each member of the team gets $100,000.
Each member of the technical crew will also get $50,000 and everyone in the team gets a national award, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
This is a replica of the rewards the president handed out to the Super Falcons after winning a historic 10th WAFCON title.
Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President were among dignitaries who welcomed the ladies. All members of the D’Tigress were there including Head Coach, Rena Wakama.
The D’Tigress made history when they pulled off a comeback after going behind in the first quarter to beat Mali 78-64 in the final Sunday and became the first team to win the tournament five consecutive times.
