Mohamed Salah has been left out of Liverpool’s squad to face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
This is as tension continues to rise between the manager, Arne Slot and the player. Salah took it further in an interview on Saturday where he claimed he was “thrown under the bus” by Liverpool.
This decision, BBC Sport learnt, was taken with full support of Slot. There will be no formal disciplinary action taken by the club against the Egyptian.
Salah was an unused substitute in the 3-3 draw at Leeds United on Saturday and it was the third consecutive game in which Salah has started on bench.
He came on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw at Anfield against Sunderland and was left on the bench in the 2-0 home win against West Ham. His last start was the 4-1 shock defeat to PSV Eindhoven at home in a Champions League group game. Salah’s last goal was on November 1 in the 2-0 win at Aston Villa.
He has 5 goals in 18 appearances for Liverpool this season in the Premier League and Champions League and overall, has 250 goals in 420 appearances for Liverpool
