The Nigeria Aquatics Federation, NAF, led by Dukwu Nnamdi Chamberlain, has confirmed that two rising swimmers — Olaiya Timileyin and Daniel Udoh will represent the country at the 2025 Africa Junior Open Water Championships.
The competition will take place from November 28–30, 2025, in Guinea Conakry.
Both athletes have been undergoing an intensive training camp in Lagos throughout November under the close supervision of the Federation’s technical team.
The contingent is expected to depart Nigeria on November 27, 2025.
Their participation in the Open Water Championships forms a key component of the Federation’s broader preparation strategy for the Africa Youth Games, billed for December 10–20, 2025, in Angola.
President Chamberlain emphasized that competing in high-level continental events ahead of the Youth Games is crucial to the athletes’ development.
He noted that such exposure enhances readiness, sharpens competitive instincts, and strengthens Nigeria’s chances in upcoming international competitions.
The Federation expressed confidence in the potential of Timileyin and Udoh, praising their discipline, commitment, and steady progress during the Lagos training camp.
The Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAF) wished the swimmers a successful outing in Guinea Conakry as they continue their build-up to next month’s major continental championship.
