Handlers of the Nigeria U15 national team, the Future Eagles, have successfully concluded the third phase of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS), in Abuja.
The two weeks intensive and concentrated training drill had a total of eighty-two teenage young stars came in two batches to participate in the talent exploring exercise.
NFF’s head of IT and FIFA TDS, Nasiru Jibril says he’s delighted with the way players expeditiously adapted to their designed programmes, saying the program is a national talent drive, which subsists, in a bid to nurture and graduate exceptional talents for coaches selection at the higher cadres of our national teams.
It is a national talent drive aimed at discovering a lot of players, so that these guys will graduate from the junior cadre where coaches of U17 and U20 will pick from as these players mature, and come into the camp and understand the principles and the type of football the Nigerian national teams plays,” Jibril said.
”The reason for this camp phase is for us to continually have a pool of young talents coming up.”
Meanwhile, head coach of the team, Patrick Bassey, speaking about the assemblage of the players in this phase of the program says “The essence of this camp is just to bring in new players to see who we can identify among them.
”As it has always been with us, whenever we discover new talents, we keep and capture them in our data to know that yes, they pass through our program so that if there’s any other program, we can pull them from the data we have stored.”
The Future Eagles were involved in a series of games, with a total of seven matches played, winning six and drawing one.
The first batch of players resumed on Sunday 29 June and departed Saturday, 5 July, 2025. While the second batch recommenced on Monday, 7 July and rounded their program on Saturday, 12 July, 2025.
The FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) is a global initiative launched in 2022 to enhance football talent development and increase competitiveness in men’s and women’s national team football, with the aim to ensure that every talented player, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
The program focuses on providing support and resources to FIFA member associations to create sustainable talent development pathways.
