Rio Ngomuha, Liverpool’s match winner against Newcastle on Monday says it is a special feeling to make his EPL debut and score a winning goal.

The 16 year old who turns 17 Friday was brought in by Arne Slot in the dying moments of the game with the game at 2-2 and he scored the winner with a well-placed shot.

“I’m buzzing! I’m so happy to score, especially the winner. A good moment, a special feeling, I’m definitely happy,” Ngomuha said.

“Normally, last season especially, the academy coaches and even the first-team coaches are always saying, ‘Make the back post, make the back post.”

Rio Chima Ngomuha was poached by Liverpool when he was 15 from Chelsea’s Academy and has enjoyed support from the senior players at Liverpool, one for which he does not take for granted.

“I’m 16 but I don’t want my age to show that I can’t play with the older players. I want to prove a point that I can play with not just people my age but many ages above,” he added.

“But like I said, there are people at the club who are always helping me and I’m always learning and improving, so I can’t complain.”

Ngomuha, who is of Nigerian descent became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goal scorer and the fourth youngest across all clubs in the Premier League era.
