Nigeria to participate in inaugural African School Games in Algeria

Nigeria will participate in the maiden edition of the African School Games scheduled to hold from July 26 to August 5, 2025 in Algeria.

 

This was confirmed by the National Sports Commission (NSC). The championship is organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and it is set to enhance youth sports development in Africa.

 

Team Nigeria will compete in 10 disciplines which includes: Basketball, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Canoeing, Football, Swimming, Cycling, Table Tennis and Taekwondo. Officials and athletes are to arrive at the Games Village on July 23, 2025.

 

All athletes are expected to present a valid school certificate. The NSC and the NOC will meet parents and guardians to get their consent for their minors participating in the games.

 

This is the first edition of the African School Games and it is expected to groom future athletes for the continent, while also promoting the Olympic values of excellence and solidarity among member nations and participating athletes
