The Nigeria National League (NNL) has secured a ₦500 million one-year sponsorship deal with BetPawa, Africa’s leading sports betting and gaming company.

It has been described as one of the most transformative partnerships in Nigerian football history.

The partnership introduces the Locker Room Bonus, an innovative reward system that ensures players directly benefit from every victory.

Each registered player in a winning team will instantly receive ₦56,000 into their mobile money wallets, processed automatically within minutes of the final whistle through a verified digital platform.

Unlike traditional sponsorships where funds rarely trickle down to athletes, this initiative rewards both individuals and the league.

The NNL will receive ₦400,000 for every league match played during weekends, creating a steady financial uplift that strengthens grassroots football and enhances competition standards.

Borah Omary Ndanyungu, Head of Local Marketing and CSR at betPawa, said the initiative goes beyond cash rewards:

“We’re not just handing out money; we are building a system that lifts Nigerian football to the next level. This platform ensures players are respected and rewarded instantly for their performances.”

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, applauded the partnership, describing it as a vital step toward retaining talent within the domestic league

“One of my major concerns has been keeping our best players in the league. This deal is the way forward, and it will positively impact the growth of Nigerian football.”

NNL Chairman, George Aluo, also praised the agreement, commending the NFF leadership for prioritizing grassroots football.

He highlighted the strong track record of NNL clubs, many of which have successfully earned promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade described the sponsorship as a morale booster:

“This partnership will ginger the players to give their best and create a ricocheting effect on the league and the development of the game in Nigeria.”
