Thr Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has restricted Niger Tornadoes from using the Bako Kontagora stadium for their 2025/2026 season’s opening game against Nasarawa United.

In a letter signed by Davidson Owumi, Chief Operating Officer of the league and dated 21st August 2025, the league explained that the Bako Kontagora stadium failed to meet club licensing criteria.

Consequently, the team’s Matchday One fixture against Nasarawa United which was scheduled for Sunday, 23rd August has been rescheduled to take place on Wednesday 27th August 2025 at the Township Stadium.

This will be effective if Niger Tornadoes fail to provide an alternative venue within 24 hours.

The league confirmed that the team’s subsequent games will be played at the same venue until it is certified that the Bako Kontagora stadium is fit to host NPFL games. Niger Tornadoes are also to bear the cost of logistics in their new venue.
