Abia Warriors continued their remarkable run of form to climb to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table after a gritty 2-1 away victory over Niger Tornadoes in Minna.

Sunday Megwo opened the scoring in the 38th minute before an own goal from Sunday Akinmoladun in first-half stoppage time doubled the visitors’ advantage.

Abdulrasheed Dabai reduced the deficit for Tornadoes in the 54th minute, but it was not enough to deny the Warriors maximum points.

The result lifted Abia Warriors to the summit of the NPFL standings with 21 points from 11 matches, reflecting their impressive consistency this season.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers United edged Nasarawa United 1-0 courtesy of Timothy Zachariah’s decisive strike on the stroke of halftime.

Ikorodu City also maintained their strong home record with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Kun Khalifat, thanks to goals from Chidera Oparaocha and Ibifubara Dagogo.

Enyimba returned to winning ways with a convincing 2-0 triumph over Kano Pillars in Aba.

John Bassey and Edidiong Ezekiel struck in quick succession to hand the People’s Elephant a much-needed boost in their chase for the top spots.

Elsewhere, Bayelsa United battled back from an early setback to defeat Plateau United 2-1, with Emo James netting a brace after Gideon Monday had given the visitors the lead.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Katsina United. Chigozie Ihejiofor scored early for the visitors, but Chukwudi Ekeocha restored parity for the Oluyole Warriors.

Goalless draws between Barau and Wikki Tourists, as well as Enugu Rangers’ stalemate against Elkanemi Warriors in Maiduguri, rounded off an eventful Matchday 11 that saw Abia Warriors rise to the top of the NPFL table.
