NPFL Round-up: Katsina United win away, Rivers, Enyimba get slim victory at home

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday two saw Katsina United picking the only away win against Plateau in Jos. 

 

Bayelsa United, coming from their surprise victory in Ibadan on matchday one were at home in Yenegoa. The side led by Monday Odigie went straight to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Barau FC, thanks to goals from Wisdom Magbisa and Ofem.

 

In Aba, Enyimba FC started their home games of the season with victory over stubborn Niger Tornadoes. Joseph Abiodun who was unveiled to the fans before the game scored the only goal of the game in the 5th minute after nodding home a cross from Solomon Ogberahwe.

 

Wikki Tourists picked a vital away point in Kano. Ahmed Lamido opened scoring for the visitors in the 12th minute but Sani Usman equalized for Pillars in the 45th minute.

 

Leonard Ugochukwu’s goal gave Nasarawa United all three points against Abia Warriors in Lafia.

 

 

Katsina United were the biggest winners on the day with an away victory in Jos. Goals from Sadiq Auwal and Uche Collins put the visitors ahead in the first half before Albert Hilary reduced the deficit but their efforts were not enough to at least get a draw. This is Plateau United’s second loss of the campaign and they sit 20th on the log.

 

Finidi George’s lads got the job done against Kwara United in Port Harcourt courtesy of Ubong Friday’s fine finish after a sumptuous pass from Emmanuel Nnaji. The game ended 1-0 in favour of Rivers United.

 

In Ozoro, Warri Wolves condemned Rangers to an agonizing defeat. Godwin Oham and Prince Ebhonam scored in the second half to give the Seasiders all three points as the game ended 2-0.

 

The last game of the day was at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan where Ikorodu City drew 0-0 with Elkanemi Warriors. Matchday two will be wrapped up on Monday at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba when Kun Khalifat will host Remo Stars at 4pm.
