NPFL Round-up: Kwara United, Barau fall at home

Matchday 7 of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) served up another weekend of drama, late goals, and away upsets across several venues as Kwara United, Barau FC join Bendel Insurance as teams that fell at home.

Warri Wolves and Abia Warriors claimed crucial wins on the road, while the much-anticipated clash between Enyimba and Rivers United ended in a tense goalless draw in Aba.

At the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars SC continued their fine home form, edging Plateau United 1–0 in a thrilling finish.

Ismail Ayodele was the hero for the Oluyole Warriors, scoring deep into stoppage time (90+6’) to send the home fans into wild celebration.

In Minna, Niger Tornadoes were held to a 1–1 draw by Kun Khalifat. Abba Khalid put the hosts ahead in the 42nd minute, but Ugochukwu Akuta struck in the 82nd to rescue a point for the visitors.

The headline fixture in Aba between Enyimba and Rivers United lived up to expectations in intensity but not in goals, as both unbeaten sides settled for a hard-fought 0–0 draw.

Elsewhere, Warri Wolves stunned Barau FC 1–0 in Bauchi, thanks to Justus Ohanu’s 29th-minute goal, while Abia Warriors continued their impressive form with a 1–0 win over Kwara United in Ilorin.

Emeka Obioma converted a 48th-minute penalty to hand the visitors all three points.

Rangers’ home fixture against Katsina United in Enugu was abandoned in the 70th minute due to heavy rainfall, with the score still goalless.

The match will resume on Monday morning at 8 a.m.

In Yenagoa, Bayelsa United were held 1–1 by Ikorodu City after Tosin’s late penalty rebound canceled out Emo James’ 26th-minute opener for the hosts.
