Matchday 16 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered goals, as Rangers emerged with most goals this week while Ikorodu City picked a valuable point away from home to hang on top.
Enugu Rangers produced the standout performance of the day with a commanding 4–1 victory over Bayelsa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Chidozie Iwundu fired in a quick brace in the 10th and 17th minutes, before Kenechukwu Agu (33’) and Chimobi Igwilo (38’) extended the advantage. Issah Yusuf briefly gave the visitors hope with a 22nd-minute strike.
League leaders Ikorodu City maintained top spot after battling to a 0–0 draw away to Wikki Tourists in Bauchi, a result that keeps their unbeaten momentum intact.
In Ilorin, Kwara United comfortably dispatched Niger Tornadoes 2–0. Bright Babatunde opened scoring in the 15th minute, while a defensive blunder resulted in an own goal in the 37th minute to seal the win.
Plateau United earned a narrow 1–0 victory over Wolves, courtesy of a 19th-minute own goal. The match ended on a tense note as both teams finished with 10 men following late red cards to Vincent Temitope and Gift David in the 86th minute.
In Umuahia, Abia Warriors secured a late lifeline in a 1–1 draw with Rivers United. Maclyn Biokpo stunned the hosts with an 86th-minute goal, but Suraju Lawal struck deep into stoppage time (90+4’) to rescue a point.
Remo Stars edged Enyimba 2–1 in Ikenne, thanks to a brace from Victor Mbaoma (3’, 45’). Edidiong Ezekiel had earlier leveled for the visitors in the 32nd minute, but Remo held firm to claim all three points.
In Kano, veteran forward Rabiu Ali rolled back the years with a brace as Kano Pillars defeated Kun Khalifat 2–1. Ali scored in the 19th minute and added a penalty in the 38th minute after Ebuka Nwokorie had equalised for the visitors in the 27th minute.
Earlier in Maiduguri, Elkanemi Warriors were held to a goalless draw by Barau FC, rounding off a tightly contested fixture.
